Anthony Bourdain’s People Magazine Cover with Kate Spade

Anthony Bourdain: People Magazine Cover

Anthony Bourdain is on a double-suicide cover along with purse designer Kate Spade in the June 25, 2018, issue of People magazine. If you miss it on newsstands, you can order it for the Kindle from Amazon.com. I really loved Anthony Bourdain! Especially after reading his book, Kitchen Confidential. He made being a chef sound daring and fun! This was before Top Chef was on TV. I think he started the trend of chefs being cool and edgy.

See my previous post about the last episodes of Anthony’s travel show, Parts Unknown, airing on CNN (if you don’t get cable, you can buy the episodes on the Amazon Fire stick).

What is odd about the Anthony Bourdain suicide is that he was in the middle of filming an episode and he had a lot of people around him! The crew was there. And his best friend, chef Eric Ripert (famous for his French cooking at Le Bournadin – follow him on Instagram), was staying at the same small hotel. He was actually waiting for him to come down for breakfast (he hadn’t made it to the dinner they’d planned on the night before, either). When he didn’t show, he asked the hotel staff to open his room and found him dead. 😦

His on-off girlfriend, Italian actress Asia Argento, is friends with Rose McGowen (both have gone public with their abuse at the hands of movie mogul Harvey Weinstein). Rose told reporters that Anthony had reached out to a medical professional for help with depression, but he didn’t follow through with the recommended treatment (likely counseling and anti-depressants). 😦

If you want to see who Anthony Bourdain’s girlfriend is, she is in his Parts Unknown episode about Rome in Season 8. This is how they met!

Support suicide prevention efforts with the buttons and T-shirts I’ve made (click on the photos below). Suicide has touched me deeply because my friend attempted suicide and suffered a brain injury.

Anthony Bourdain’s Suicide and Last Episodes of his TV Show

Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown Last Episodes

Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown last episode

Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown last episode

Anthony was filming in France when he hanged himself 😦 But this episode remains unfinished and will not be released. The last 2 episodes of his last season, Season 11, have now aired on CNN: Cajun Mardi Gras (in small-town Louisiana) and Bhutan (near Tibet).

I watched 2 of the episodes from Parts Unknown: Season 11 this week to remember him: Hong Kong and Berlin.

Parts Unknown: Hong Kong Episode with Famous Movie Director Christopher Doyle

The Hong Kong episode is notable because Anthony Bourdain said this was his favorite episode EVER! He was very excited and proud of this episode in the weeks before he died, which makes his suicide even more perplexing. The Hong Kong Parts Unknown is an enjoyable watch; Anthony meets his favorite movie director, who is a very eccentric old guy (British) who lives in Hong Kong and makes movies about tragic love affairs. The two get along like peas in a pod.

Anthony’s girlfriend, Asia Argento, is credited with directing the Hong Kong episode while Christopher Doyle is the cinematographer (Honestly, I’m not really sure what the difference is…which is bad because I used to live in our movie capital, Hollywood! I believe the cinematographer plans the look of the show by deciding what to focus on with the camera.).

The first lines of the show are “I fell in love with Asia…” A fun play on words because he is shown on a boat overlooking Hong Kong harbor, i.e. Asia, but his girlfriend’s name was Asia (pronounced “ah-zee-ah” I believe, because she’s Italian). Then he goes on to say being in love is the best thing, BUT it leaves you lonely (when you cannot be with the one you love). Then it shows him sitting alone on the deck of the boat, jotting notes in his travel journal. If you are looking for answers as to why Anthony Bourdain killed himself, is this the answer?

Why did Anthony Bourdain kill himself?

Why did Anthony Bourdain kill himself?

Parts Unknown: Berlin Episode and Drugs

I also watched Parts Unknown: Berlin because I’ve been thinking about moving to Germany (not to Berlin but to a smaller university town) to go to grad school in environmental science. However, everyone (including a pub patron in this episode) says Berlin is NOTHING like the rest of Germany, which is conservative and quiet. I was put off by the darkness of Berlin – lots of lost souls partying in all-night dance clubs. A) I am done partying and B) I live in Vegas and have had it up to here with all the drug people. AMERICA HAS A DRUG PROBLEM. This isn’t a good thing. It’s not about freedom and doing what you want. It’s about destruction and darkness. I am becoming more of a conspiracy theorist in regards to this: Is the American government making money from the drug trade? If not, why is America teeming with meth heads and opioid/pain pill addicts who become heroin addicts (cheaper and easier to find)? See how many homeless drug addicts you spot today as you drive around town.

Watch this Movie: American Made with Tom Cruise

Watch American Made, the excellent Tom Cruise movie (and book) about a real-life guy who helped the CIA move guns around to different foreign militias in exchange for drugs (cocaine) bought from the most infamous drug cartels of the day.

New TV Show about Psychic who sees Vampires, Angels, etc.

New metaphysical TV show (fictional) coming up this month on NBC: Midnight, Texas. Have no idea if it’ll be good or not! Just saw the commercial and got excited about it. The writer wrote True Blood, an HBO series about vampires (never did see it).

Watch the trailer for the new show, Midnight, Texas here.

The storyline is a dusty, lonely Texas town with weird people in it: vampires, demons, angels, etc. The main character (a stud-ly guy) comes to town and he’s able to see dead people and spirits. Cool! Soon, there’s a war between good and evil. This storyline has been done a lot. I don’t know if I’ll like it or not.

But I LOVED a similar TV show called Being Human. Watch the British version with super sexy Aiden Turner from Poldark. It’s available on Amazon Fire. There’s also a shorter-lived American version of this show with different actors. I didn’t watch that one.

Mondays on NBC.

UPDATE: I saw the first show. It’s so-so. I like the premise, but there are way too many characters and too many things going on! Also, a big discrepancy for me is that the main character kind of believes in psychics and kind of thinks they are frauds…even though HE is a psychic and his mom was a professional psychic! There is a talking cat, which I wanted to love…but it’s mean!

Watch Criss Angel Raise the Dead

That is the title of one of Criss Angel’s latest BeLIEve TV show episodes: Raise the Dead! I wasn’t prepared and started watching this right before bedtime! Super disturbing! I couldn’t stop watching it, though, and replayed it three times. What magician Criss Angel does is get a cadaver that was donated to science (a dead body). Then he has an audience member lie down on a gurney next to it. He tells her that in order to bring life back to this dead body for just a moment (he has a doctor watching for signs of a heart beat and respiration/breathing), he needs to take a life FOR JUST A MOMENT. But he promises the girl that she will leave the show the same way she came in (like hopefully not possessed with this dead person’s spirit!). She agrees. I would really like to interview her about her experience. Fascinating, but scary!

Switching bodies is similar to what the ancient Egyptians were able to accomplish: putting a dead person’s soul into someone else’s body or the body of an animal. That’s why so many pharaohs had the head of a hawk or a dog, etc.

It makes me wonder what these magicians do in their secret magic societies! Like do they meet at midnight under a full moon and switch bodies or briefly become wolves?

There is something similar in metaphysics called a “walk-in.” This is when a high-level spiritual teacher, instead of dying, switches bodies with someone else. That way, the spiritual teacher doesn’t have to go through another 3 years of potty training and learning to walk and another 12 years of boring schooling. They just resume their life as an adult in someone else’s body. Supposedly, the other person agrees to this and they die. Yet people think they are still living because their body is still walking around – but it’s the other person! Freaky.

A less weird thing to compare it to is bedtime. Where do you go when you are sleeping? You leave your body all night. Some people call this “astral traveling.” At night, you are out of your body and having “dreams” or other experiences. Native shamans can do this willingly, as well as buddhas and Indian gurus.

So, back to the super creepy Raise the Dead episode! I don’t even know if I should tell you the gross thing that happens! I covered my eyes during parts of it. You’ll have to watch it for yourself. Criss has 2 nursing students take the pulse of the cadaver and the live person. For a few moments, the live person has no pulse. And the cadaver has one! Aaargh! Scary! However, this isn’t the same as bringing back the dead. Because I don’t think it was the dead guy back in his body. I think the woman’s soul/spirit was briefly transferred over to the dead body. Freaky!

If Criss can do this, he can create a Frankenstein monster.

Was Princess Diana Part Angel?

I watched Dateline last night and it was so sad! It was a 2 hour special about Princess Diana and her death in Paris. This year is the 20th anniversary of her death (August 31). This Sunday (May 7, 2017), ABC will be airing another 2 hour special called The Last 100 Days of Diana. Even the title is making me emotional! I remember the press attention leading up to “the wedding of the Century.” Everyone wished they could be living this fairytale! ha ha. Little did the know about the reality of her life.

In last night’s special, the French ambassador who was called to meet with the Princess in the hospital (the first reports about her car accident was that she SURVIVED) saw her in the ambulance and described her as looking angelic. This made me think about the realm quizzes I’ve written. One is called, “Are you Part Angel?Angel hybrids have a “halo” of golden blonde hair and, most often, light blue eyes. Princess Diana famously had a poof-y, blond-streaked, short hairstyle. And gorgeous light blue eyes. She also became more famous than the rest of the royal family by doing charity work to help people! Another giveaway that you are part Angel is saying, “I want to help people.” Angels feel this is their true calling in life. And it is!

Are you wondering if you, like Princess Diana, are part Angel?

Criss Angel Magic: Believe TV Show

Obviously, I am a huge David Blaine fan and I’m going to his show for my birthday! But I started watching Criss Angel’s latest TV Show called BeLIEve (it’s available on Amazon Fire stick). The name is based on Houdini famously telling his wife to contact him with a psychic medium after his death. He told her a secret word that only they knew. So, if the psychic really contacted him after death, she should listen for this word. The word was “Believe.” But, according to Houdini’s wife, she never found a psychic good enough to tell her this password! Which is weird because I firmly believe in psychics. In fact, that is why I like magic! Some of the magic tricks seemed based on psychic talents. Like the mentalism ones where someone guesses what number you picked or what card you picked.

I think some of the other magic tricks, like levitating and making things disappear/appear, are talents from past lives. Previously, these magicians lived in Atlantis, I think, and gained great psychic abilities. If you don’t know, when Atlantis drowned some of the “black magi” = “magi-cians” moved to Egypt and became super-powerful pharaohs. Thus, there is a correlation between Atlantis and ancient Egypt. No surprise that Criss performs his Vegas show at the Luxor = an Egyptian pyramid-shaped casino!

I hadn’t watched any of Criss Angel’s TV shows since his early MindFreak days. He has gotten A LOT BETTER at levitating! Back in the day, David Blaine did some levitating in his TV show. He sort of fell over in a heap on the ground ;( Criss did some levitating and he didn’t get very far off the ground, either. But now he can basically fly! Supposedly, if you learn to control and direct your energy, you can focus the energy below your feet to create a blast-off effect, like a rocket. It is weird and freaky, but I believe they are both really levitating!

I have read Diana Cooper’s books about Atlantis, and she describes beautiful floating temples. To enter, you’d have to levitate off the ground and fly through the front door! If you weren’t an advanced enough person, you’d be stuck on the ground and unable to enter the esteemed temple.

My favorite trick that I’ve seen Criss Angel do in his TV show is make a stuffed animal come to life. It is so cute!!! If I was magical like him, I’d do cute tricks like this every day <3.

My second favorite trick I’ve seen Criss do on TV is turning on a lightbulb using the electricity from a PERSON! Tell us how to do it, Criss, so we can stop burning coal to power our electric plants! This is similar to Tesla, who said we can get energy freely from the ground or from lightning strikes. There is electricity all around us, if you think about. We just need to know how to harness it and how to safely distribute it. When’s the last time you got zapped by static electricity? It hurt, didn’t it? It was pretty strong electricity! And there is electricity INSIDE OF US, in our hearts which beat from an electrical pulse.

Being Human: U.K. TV Show

An angel, a vampire and a werewolf

I started watching a great TV show called Being Human (the original U.K. version, not the U.S. remake) about an angel, a vampire and a werewolf! It sounds a bit silly, but the writing and acting is really good. It aired in the U.K. starting in 2009 and was a big hit. I’m watching it on Amazon Prime video.

Aidan Turner from Poldark

If you are watching and loving Poldark (and you should be!) on BBC Masterpiece Theatre, you’ll recognize heart throb Aidan Turner. Aidan plays the brooding vampire – fits him perfectly! He feels guilty about having to feed, i.e. kill other people by sucking their blood. He comes up with various fixes for this. The werewolf is a normal guy most of the month. He only changes during the full moon, when he locks himself in a room so as not to harm anyone. The angel, Annie, is played brilliantly by a talented actress – the gossip is that she started dating Aidan while filming, and when they broke up about 2 years later he quit the show. It looks like he is in all of Season 1 and Season 2 but only in a few of the Season 3 episodes  😦 The angel character is very interesting and I think whoever wrote the show has an interest in spirituality. She learns that she is earthbound because of something traumatic regarding her death (I won’t spoil it for you). This is the true reason that ghosts are here. If they were not traumatized, they could ascend into the light/heaven.
